How the place works
Between forty and sixty degrees south the wind runs right around the globe without meeting land. That produces a swell no other ocean knows, and lows pass from west to east at short intervals.
What breaks there
This is not about individual claims but about whether boat and crew can take the sustained loading. Rescue is days away, and there are no ports of refuge for thousands of miles.
What this means for your policy
There is no standard cover for the high southern latitudes. Anyone sailing there needs a separate agreement with conditions on boat, equipment and crew, and must expect it to be declined.
