Worth knowing
3C Composites; cover, cost and conditions
Two sailing yacht ranges are recorded under the name 3C Composites, the Bongo 960 and the Bongo 9.60, built between 1999 and 2009. Production therefore lies in the past, and the yachts change owner on the used market today. It is precisely for this that we agree an agreed value, which in a claim applies with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
When buying a used Bongo, what counts is the amount a replacement would actually cost. We record this value as an agreed value in the contract instead of negotiating about current market values later. Insurance is granted regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, even with several owners in the history.
The basis is third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Anyone taking part in club races with a Bongo is covered from Basis-Plus upwards. Races with a scoring status are declared when you take out the policy, so that the cover also holds on the day of the race.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is a Bongo 960 from the nineties valued?
Through an agreed value which is agreed when the contract is concluded. In a total loss it is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), and in the Premium tariff full hull cover applies without an age limit.
Are races with my sailing yacht covered as well?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. Races with a scoring status are reported when you take out the policy, and then this use is also expressly part of the contract.

Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.
Cruising range
The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.
Weather
Check wind force in Beaufort and wind direction before casting off, and allow for gusts.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by 3C Composites, build years and cover
Bongo 960 is a sailing yacht from 3C Composites, built from 1999 to 2009.
Bongo 9.60 is a sailing yacht from 3C Composites, built from 1999 to 2008.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
