Bazzerla; cover, cost and conditions
Bazzerla is an Italian yard building motorboats for anglers and cruisers. It is best known for open fishing boats drawn on the lines of American classics but built entirely in Italy. One trade review describes the F1 as a fishing open of about six and a half metres with plain lines and every bit of space given over to life on board. That sums up the style: a clean hull, lots of open deck to fish from and very little decoration. Alongside the open boats Bazzerla also offers larger models with a cabin.
Our records hold five Bazzerla models. Three are motorboats (Butterfly, F1-655 and F1-765) and two are motor yachts (Basic 920 and B 37). The Basic 920 is listed from 2003, the longest run in the data, while the other four start in 2010. All five end in 2018. Lengths go from 6.55 metres for the F1-655 through 7.65 metres (F1-765), 8.6 metres (Butterfly) and 9.18 metres (Basic 920) to 11.76 metres for the B 37. In the F1 line the number gives length in centimetres.
A fishing boat collects salt, bait and hooks, so a freshwater rinse after each trip and a look at the deck drains pays off. The F1 models tow easily to a new spot, which makes trailer care part of the routine. The Basic 920 and B 37 usually stay on a berth, where antifouling, anodes and the shore power lead need a check each season.
