Bimax; cover, cost and conditions
Bimax is an Italian yard based in Latina, south of Rome, building motorboats. Its best known design is the Alchimia 28, a walkaround cruiser of just under eight and a half metres driven by a single diesel on a shaft. Bimax calls the layout its Eco Drive System and says the bow rises only about one degree as the boat climbs onto the plane. In the Alchimia 28 the engine comes from FPT Industrial. You spot a Bimax by the side decks running right round the superstructure and by the Italian line names Alchimia, Genesi and Estasi.
Our model records hold eight Bimax designs, seven motorboats and one motor yacht, spread across four lines. The Walk Around 630 and 750 come first, from 2002 to 2017. The Genesi 730 and 930 run from 2003 to 2018, with the 10.3 metre Genesi 930 listed as a motor yacht. The Estasi 10.30, also 10.3 metres, appears from 2004 to 2017. The Alchimia line starts in 2012 with the 28, 32 and 36; the 28 and 32 reach the most recent build years, the 36 stops in 2021. Lengths run from 6.3 metres (Walk Around 630) to 11 metres (Alchimia 36), with three models under 7.5 metres and five above.
The Walk Around 630 is still small enough to tow behind a car, so a slipway is part of its routine. The ten metre boats live on a marina berth and do coastal day trips and weekends. A shaft-driven diesel likes regular attention to the stern gland and the cutless bearing, and the walkaround decks deserve a careful look at their non-slip surface before each season.

For the Bimax Alchimia 28, Bimax Alchimia 32, Bimax Alchimia 36 by Bimax and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Bimax Genesi 930 by Bimax series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
