Bono; cover, cost and conditions
In our records Bono takes in two boat families from the 1970s: small sailing boats under the Bono name and motorboats under the Bonetto name. We hold no verified details on the builder's home or history, so this page keeps to the model data. On the sailing boats the number gives length in feet, on the motorboats length in centimetres. All of them are compact boats from a time when many families towed their first boat to the lake behind the car.
Five models appear in our data. Three are sailing boats (Bono 17, Bono 17 S and Bono 20) and two are motorboats (Bonetto 570 and Bonetto 700). The Bono 17 and Bono 20 start in 1974, the Bono 17 S and both Bonettos in 1975, and all five end in 1982. Lengths go from 5.1 metres for the Bono 17 and 17 S through 5.7 metres (Bonetto 570) and 6 metres (Bono 20) to 6.95 metres for the Bonetto 700. None is longer than seven metres.
At more than forty years old, these boats reward a careful check of the hull, the fittings and, on the Bonettos, the engine. They are at home on inland lakes and sheltered coast, launched from a trailer at the slipway or lifted in by crane. A dry winter spot under a tarpaulin keeps the old gelcoat and the wood trim in shape.
