Bootsman Sloepen is the name our records give to a line of sloepen, open motorboats in the Dutch style. A sloep is a calm, beamy boat with plenty of seating around the cockpit, built for easy afternoons on canals, rivers and lakes rather than for speed. The Bootsman models carry their length in feet: the Sloep 21 is 6.4 metres long, the Sloep 30 9.4 metres. The Exclusive suffix marks the better equipped versions that join the base boats from 2012, and the Bootsman 25 is listed without the word Sloep.
We record seven models, all motorboats. Four begin in 2005: the Bootsman 25 and the Sloep 21, 23 and 30, the last three listed until 2014. The Sloep 25 Exclusive and Sloep 30 Exclusive follow in 2012, the 25 Exclusive running until 2017, and the Sloep 26 Exclusive arrives in 2017. A sloep is a social boat: friends on the cushions, a cool box on the table and a slow cruise to a waterside terrace. The smaller models tow easily behind a car, the larger ones stay on a jetty for the season. Cushions and the canopy last longer if they come off the boat in rainy weeks, and a winter indoors keeps the varnish and upholstery fresh.
