Broesder Shipyard is a Dutch yard in Lauwersoog in the north of the Netherlands. It was founded in 1990 and began with the Broesder Kotter, a motorboat with a distinctive profile. From 2000 the yard added open sloeps, cabin sloeps and one-off builds. The current range includes Kotter versions from 1050 to 1475, the Open Sloep 750, several cabin sloeps and the MY1840 PilotHouse motor yacht. A Broesder Kajuitsloep 1050 built in 2007 and offered on the used market is described as a steel boat with a single 60 hp diesel and an air draft of only 1.85 metres, made for canals and inland waters. The sloep, the Dutch motorboat with a round bow and a generous cockpit, shapes the yard's range today.

A steel sloep rewards regular attention to its paint. Check the waterline, the bilge and any spot where fittings pass through the hull, because that is where rust starts first. On a boat used mainly on fresh water, corrosion is slower, but condensation inside the cabin of a Kajuitsloep still needs good ventilation. The low air draft is the whole point on Dutch canals, so make sure any added canopy or mast fold-down still keeps the boat under the bridges you plan to pass.
