Bryant; cover, cost and conditions
Bryant Boats builds sterndrive runabouts from 19 to 27 feet in Sweetwater, Tennessee. The hulls are hand laid fibreglass with no wood anywhere in the construction, and since 2017 the company has been part of the Correct Craft group. Older Bryants are identified by three digit numbers, from the 190 up to the 268, often with a suffix such as W, CC or X, while the newer boats carry names: Calandra, Speranza, Potenza, Sportabout and the compact C series.
Our model records list 31 Bryant models: 30 powerboats and one, the Bryant 232, filed as a motor yacht. Build years start in 2001, and six models are in current production. Lengths run from 5.9 to 8.2 metres, with half of the range between 6.5 and 7.5 metres. The first generation, built until 2008, includes the 190, the 200 and several versions of the 214, among them Walk Through, CC and Wakeboard at about 7.2 metres. Later came the 196, 210, 220, 233 and 246, up to the 268 at 8.15 metres. The current line consists of the Calandra 21, 23 and 27 at 6.5, 7 and 8.1 metres, plus the C1, C3 and C7 of matching length.
These are family day boats: swimming, cruising to a lakeside restaurant, and towing skiers or wakeboarders behind the sterndrive. What holds value is the drivetrain first, meaning engine hours, the condition of the outdrive and a documented service history. Then come gelcoat, upholstery and trailer. Because the hulls contain no wood, rot in stringers or transom is not the concern it is with many older runabouts.

As the Bryant C1, Bryant C3, Bryant C7 by Bryant and 3 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Bryant 210, Bryant 233 X,
Bryant 268 by Bryant and 22 more series the market value and the replacement cost often differ
widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Bryant C1, Bryant C3, Bryant C7 by Bryant and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Bryant 232 by Bryant series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
