Worth knowing
Carroll Marine Ltd.; cover, cost and conditions
Three sailing yacht ranges are recorded: the Farr 40 from 1983 to 2012, the Farr 30 from 1995 to 2003 and the Tripp 40 from 1987 to 1994. All construction periods are closed. On lengths, construction methods or numbers built we have no information, and we do not add anything that is not documented.
For the contract this is irrelevant, because what is insured is the individual boat. The value is arranged as an agreed value and compensated in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. We provide cover regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.
Third-party liability forms the basis with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. For sailing yachts the sail area enters into the premium, along with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is a Farr 30 from the year 1998 valued in the contract?
Through an agreed value that is arranged when the policy is taken out. In the event of a claim compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff also with no age limit for the year of construction.
Are races included in the cover?
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff onwards. Races with scoring status you state when you take out the policy, so that this use is part of the contract from the outset.

Series by Carroll Marine Ltd., build years and cover
Farr 40 is a sailing yacht from Carroll Marine Ltd., built from 1983 to 2012.
Farr 30 is a sailing yacht from Carroll Marine Ltd., built from 1995 to 2003.
Tripp 40 is a sailing yacht from Carroll Marine Ltd., built from 1987 to 1994.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
