Clarc Yachts GbR; cover, cost and conditions

Clarc Yachts stands for one boat, the Clarc 33, which made its debut at the Hanseboot show in Hamburg in 2010. The lines come from Blank-Yacht-Design and the boat is built in Estonia by the Ridas Jaht yard. Hull and deck are vacuum-infused in vinylester resin over a foam core, and the bulkheads are sandwich too, which keeps the weight down. You know her by the plumb bow and the mahogany-veneered coachroof, details that recall the German dinghy cruisers, as do the roomy cockpit and the long aft deck. The German magazine Yacht described her as a slim, trailerable boat filling the gap between daysailer and performance cruiser.

Our model records list the Clarc 33 as a sailing yacht of 10.17 metres, with build years from 2009 into the most recent ones. No second design under this name appears in our data. A beam of just 2.54 metres lets her travel on a trailer without special permits. The other signature is the T-keel: it draws 1.95 metres but retracts into the hull at the push of a button, so shallow water on the Baltic coast or on Lake Constance is no obstacle. Power comes from a petrol engine with a saildrive. Anyone looking for a Clarc 33 is therefore looking at a fairly young boat, the earliest in our data dating from 2009.

A lifting keel needs its own checks on any used example. Look at the lifting mechanism and the keel box for wear and for signs of grounding. The foam sandwich hull is light and stiff, but impact damage should be sounded out by someone who knows cored laminates. The petrol engine and the saildrive want regular servicing, and the saildrive seal has a replacement interval worth asking about. Many boats move between sea and lake on their trailer, so the trailer itself deserves a proper inspection. The varnished mahogany keeps its shine with regular care and a tarpaulin over the winter.

Series by Clarc Yachts GbR, build years and cover

Clarc 33

Clarc 33 is a sailing yacht from Clarc Yachts GbR, built since 2009.

What this means for the cover

As the Clarc 33 by Clarc Yachts GbR series is still in production,

parts are available and repair costs are predictable.

Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

For the Clarc 33 by Clarc Yachts GbR series:

On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:

a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,

and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
