Code Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Code Yachts is a Hungarian yard that builds fast sailing boats in carbon. Its Code 10 is an inland racer, designed by Andrej Justin for Lake Balaton and the other large lakes of Europe. Hull and rig are made by the Hungarian carbon specialist Pauger using vacuum infusion. The Code 10 stands out for its canting keel, swung up to 45 degrees to either side with a tackle and winch, for an extra daggerboard ahead of the mast and for a fixed bowsprit two metres long. The boat made its debut in 2016 at a long distance race on Lake Constance. A small Yanmar engine is offered as auxiliary power.
Our model records hold a single design for Code Yachts, the Code 10 sailing yacht. It is listed for build years 2018 to 2022 at a length of 12 metres. The yard gives ten metres for the hull itself, and the two metre bowsprit brings the overall length up. Draft is two metres. The line does not run into the most recent build years in our records. A Code 10 is therefore a young used boat, built for racing on inland lakes.
A canting keel is a clever piece of engineering and also the first thing to inspect on a used Code 10. Check the pivot, the bearings and the tackle that swings the keel, and look for wear where the keel passes through the hull. Carbon hulls hide damage well, so an ultrasound or tap test around the keel area and the bowsprit fitting is worth arranging. A two metre draft limits where the boat can go on shallow lakes. Race boats see hard use, so ask about the sail inventory, the regatta history and how the boat has been trailed and stored.

Series by Code Yachts, build years and cover
Code 10 is a sailing yacht from Code Yachts, built from 2018 to 2022.
For the Code 10 by Code Yachts series the market value and the replacement cost often differ
widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Code 10 by Code Yachts series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
