Dellapasqua DC traces its roots to 1959 and the Ravenna area on the Adriatic. That year Giancarlo Dellapasqua, a maestro d'ascia or master shipwright, built his first boat on a deep-V hull, the shape that went on to define everything the yard produced. In 1960 Ambrogio Carnevali joined him, and the two initials gave the brand its name. They were among the first builders in Italy to follow the Hunt deep-V and to fit sterndrives. Carnevali left in 1992 to start his own yard with his son, while the Dellapasqua DC name carried on. The boats are easy to read: DC, then a number that in our records roughly matches the length in metres, then a suffix for the version.

Our model records list 18 designs, 16 classed as motor yachts and two as motorboats. The oldest is the DC 9, built from 1977 to 1985. A second generation began at the end of the eighties, when nine designs including the DC 8 Open GP, the DC 10 Open, the DC 13 S Fly and the DC 15 Fly appeared between 1988 and 1990. A third generation from 2003 brought eight designs from the DC 7 Sedan to the DC 18. Versions are called Sedan, Open, Open GP, S and Fly, and four designs carry Fly in their name. Lengths run from 7.5 metres for the DC 7 Cabinato GP and DC 7 Sedan to just under 18 metres for the DC 18. The longest run belongs to the DC 12 S, listed from 1990 to 2017. No design reaches the latest build years, so every DC on the water today is a used boat.

A deep-V hull is built to run fast in a chop, and the hull of a used DC tells you how it has been driven. Look at the forward sections and at the area around the sterndrives or shafts for stress cracks and old repairs. Ask whether the engines are original or have been replaced, and ask for paperwork on the drive legs, whose bellows need regular renewal. On the Fly versions check the flybridge mounting and the stanchions. Boats from the late eighties often still carry original upholstery, wiring and teak, which may need replacing. A survey with the boat lifted out shows the bottom and the running gear.
