Fratelli Aprea Cantiere Navale; cover, cost and conditions
Fratelli Aprea is a family yard in Sorrento on the Bay of Naples. Cataldo Aprea founded it in 1890, and the sixth generation still builds at the original site in Marina Grande. The family makes gozzi, the local fishing and day boats with a high bow, rounded stern and plenty of wood on deck. Since 1988 the hulls use fibreglass instead of solid timber, yet the woodwork still defines the look. Every boat in the range carries the Sorrento name.
Our model records list eleven Aprea designs, four motorboats and seven motor yachts, all from the Sorrento series. The small boats are the Sorrento 7.50 in Open, CAB and SC form and the Sorrento 7,80 Aperto Tradizionale, between 7.5 and 7.85 metres. The Sorrento 32 comes as Hard Top, Open Cruise and Semicabinato at 9.6 metres; the Sorrento 36 offers the same three versions at 11.82 metres for the Hard Top and 12.4 metres for the others. The longest is the 15 metre Sorrento 50 Cabinato. The Sorrento 32 Hard Top opens the list in 2000, and all eleven models run into the newest build years.
Many Aprea boats spend their summers on a mooring buoy off the Amalfi coast or on day trips into rocky coves. The varnished wood needs fresh coats each season, and a shaded berth or canvas over the brightwork keeps it from greying. Smaller Sorrento 7.50 models are often lifted out between trips.

For the Sorrento 7,80 Aperto Tradizionale, Sorrento 7.50 CAB,
Sorrento 7.50 Open by Fratelli Aprea Cantiere Navale and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.

Sorrento 32 Semicabinato by Fratelli Aprea Cantiere Navale and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
