Worth knowing
Grginic Mirakul; cover, cost and conditions
Mirakul boats come from Grginić Yachting in Zagreb, known in Croatian as Grginić jahte. The company builds motor yachts under the Mirakul name and rigid inflatables under the Shark name. Alongside the boatbuilding it runs its own charter fleet, much of it based at Marina Kornati in Biograd on the Dalmatian coast. Sales listings describe the Mirakul 30 as a two cabin motor yacht for eight people with a single 300 hp diesel, while the Mirakul 40 has three cabins and twin 300 hp diesels. Anyone hunting for a used Mirakul is therefore likely to come across boats that have spent a few seasons in charter.
Our model records list five designs: three motor yachts and two RIBs. The oldest entries, the Mirakul 30 and the Mirakul 30s, start in 2011 and both measure 9.2 metres; the 30s is listed only until 2019. The Mirakul 40 followed in 2012 and, at 11.9 metres, is the largest yacht of the brand. Among the RIBs, the Shark 23 BF Sport measures seven metres and appears from 2012, while the Shark 38 reaches 11.07 metres and has been listed since 2018. Four of the five lines run into the most recent build years, so the whole range sits between seven and almost twelve metres.
A boat that has worked in charter shows it in the details: worn upholstery, tired gelcoat at the boarding points and plenty of engine hours. Ask for the service history of the diesels, and check shaft seals, seacocks and the bow thruster if one is fitted. A survey with an engine oil analysis is money well spent on the Mirakul 40 with its twin installation. On the Shark RIBs the tubes age first: look at seams, valves and the bond between tube and hull, and keep them shaded when the boat is laid up. Boats from private owners often have lower hours, but the paperwork is worth just as much attention.
