Worth knowing
Gymarine; cover, cost and conditions
Nine model ranges of motor boats are recorded, all of them started from 1990 onwards. Eight of them ended in 1997 or 1998, only the GM 650 continued until 2024. Boats from these years usually spend the winter ashore, and that is exactly where damage occurs for which limited hull cover already pays.
Damage in winter storage is included in limited hull cover, as are fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the entire boat. During craning and launching the cover remains in place, including on the transport route between berth and shed. There is no time window, and no night clause either.
A GM 545 is insured with us. For boats from this range of construction years the agreed value counts: the agreed figure is stated in the policy, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff without an age limit. With us the year of construction alone excludes no boat from hull insurance.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the cover also apply when the boat is standing in the shed?
Yes, for Gymarine too: Damage in winter storage is included in limited hull cover,
and during craning, during launching and on the transport route hull insurance continues to apply.
The policy has no time window.
Is a GM 650 assessed differently from a GM 505?
For Gymarine: The premium follows the type of boat, value, year of construction,
engine power and cruising range.
Since the 650 range ran until 2024 and the 505 already ended in 1997,
the year of construction and the value differ considerably.

For the GM 650 by Gymarine series the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the GM 440, GM 680, GM 505 by Gymarine and 5 more series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the GM 650, GM 440, GM 680 by Gymarine and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
