Worth knowing
Halmatic Leisure Products Ltd.; cover, cost and conditions
Halmatic Leisure Products appears with 23 boats, among them ten motor yachts, nine sailing yachts, two RIBs and one sailing and one motor boat. Build years run from 1964 to 1999 and lengths from 6.7 to 25.9 m. The range is shaped by the in house types Halmatic 30, 45, 50 and 52, the Nicholson 32 and 42, the Serviceman 1200 and the Pacific 22 and Arctic 28 RIBs.
The records are consistently old, with many boats from the 1960s and 1970s. Actual cash value is useless for them, whereas an agreed value fixes the sum insured and takes restoration work into account. The span from just under seven to almost 26 m also calls for a clear statement of value and cruising area, because a RIB and a 26 m yacht have nothing in common.
NAMMERT insures Halmatic regardless of build year and place of purchase, including classic yachts that have changed hands many times. The premium is ready in the online calculator in five minutes.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can yachts from the 1960s still be insured?
Yes. The Halmatic records reach back to 1964. Condition, evidence of repairs and a realistic agreed value are what count.
How are the RIBs in the range treated?
The Pacific 22 and Arctic 28 are handled as rigid hulled inflatables. For them transport, storage and the engine matter, not the berth.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
