Insetta Boatworks is a family-owned builder in St. Marys, Georgia. Its founder, Victor Insetta, is an electrical engineer and inventor with a passion for offshore racing and fishing. After selling his electronic-component business in 2007, he set out to build a boat that married the stepped tunnel hull of racing designs with the equipment of a serious fishing machine. The result was the Insetta 45, a centre-console catamaran with a tunnel hull. The smaller line carries the letters IFC, short for internal foiling catamaran: a hydrofoil sits between the asymmetric sponsons, cuts drag and leaves the draft unchanged.
Our model records list two designs, both filed as motor yachts: the Insetta I 35 IFC at 10.67 metres and the Insetta I 45C at 14.93 metres. Both start with build year 2018 and run into the most recent build years, so there are no older hulls in the data. Just over four metres separate the two. Because the foil adds nothing to the draft, reviews describe the 35 IFC as a boat that can be trailered, kept on a boat lift or stored ashore in a dry stack. The trade press quotes engine options of up to twin 450 hp for it.

Twin engines mean two service histories to read, so ask for records for both. Centre-console boats of this size are often run hard offshore, which makes it worth checking the gelcoat around the console, the hatches and the rod holders for stress cracks. Electronics age faster than hulls, and plotters or sonar on a boat from the first build years may already have been replaced. A boat that lives on a lift or in dry storage usually shows less fouling than one left afloat all season.
