Kha Shing Enterprises; cover, cost and conditions
Kha Shing Enterprises is based in the Linyuan industrial park of Kaohsiung, in southern Taiwan. It began in 1975 as a timber trading and processing business before turning entirely to the design and construction of motor yachts. The model names are easy to read: on the flybridge yachts and catamarans the number roughly gives the length in feet, while the big M models state it in metres, so a 76 Fly is close to 23.7 metres and a 40 M just over 40.
Our model records list 26 Kha Shing models, 19 motor yachts and seven power catamarans. Build years run from 1976 to 2027, and 18 of the models continue into current production. Lengths span 13.1 to 40.4 metres, with half of them between 14.8 and 25.7 metres and a median of 22.7. The earliest entries are the Kha Shing 43 and 49 from 1976 to 1986. The Breeze line of the nineties runs from the 200 to the 247, covering 19.8 to 24.9 metres. Today's Monte Fino catalogue brings the 45, 47 and 66 catamarans plus the C series between 13.6 and 20 metres, the 76, 80 and 82 flybridge yachts around 24 metres, the 85 ecHo Explorer, the 100 RPH, the 122 at 37.1 metres, and the 32 M, 35 M and 40 M.
Owners of yachts this size tend to cover long distances. Value is shaped less by the badge than by hours on the engines, the state of the gelcoat and teak, and how recently systems such as generators, stabilisers and electronics were renewed.

As the Monte Fino 32 M, Monte Fino 35 M,
Monte Fino 40 M by Kha Shing Enterprises and 15 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Breeze 204 by Kha Shing Enterprises series the market value and the replacement cost often
differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Breeze 200, Breeze 222,
Breeze 231 by Kha Shing Enterprises and 4 more series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Monte Fino 32 M, Monte Fino 35 M,
Monte Fino 40 M by Kha Shing Enterprises and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Monte Fino 45 Catamaran, Monte Fino 45 Catamaran SF,
Monte Fino 47 Catamaran by Kha Shing Enterprises and further series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
