Kumbra Yachts; cover, cost and conditions

Kumbra Yachts is a young name from Barcelona. The brand made its public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2024 and now sells through dealers in more than ten countries. The boats are backed by the Faeton Yachts yard, run by a family with three generations in boatbuilding. The range is narrow and focused: a walkaround sports cruiser for day trips and Mediterranean cruising. The Kumbra 34 is easy to recognise by its side decks, which let you walk from cockpit to bow without climbing over the coachroof, and by two sunbathing areas, one forward and one aft, which is unusual at this length.

Our model records hold exactly one design from the brand, the Kumbra 34, listed as a motor yacht. It appears from build year 2021 and runs into the most recent build years, so there are no older Kumbra boats to look for. She measures 10.4 metres, with a beam of 3.50 metres according to the yard. Power comes from twin Mercury V8 outboards of 300 hp each. Below deck there is a double cabin, a sofa that converts into a berth and a shower. That makes the Kumbra 34 a boat for long days afloat and the odd night on board rather than for weeks of passage making.

Twin 300 hp outboards are the heart of this boat and deserve most of the attention. Service records for both engines, hours that match each other and clean lower units say a lot about how a used Kumbra 34 was treated. A walkaround layout means plenty of exposed deck, so check upholstery, hatches and the stitching on the sun pads after a few seasons of Mediterranean sun. Many of these boats work hard in summer as day boats, so look at gelcoat around cleats and fenders, and at the bathing platform where people climb on and off.

Series by Kumbra Yachts, build years and cover

Kumbra 34

Kumbra 34 is a motor yacht from Kumbra Yachts, built since 2021.

What this means for the cover

As the Kumbra 34 by Kumbra Yachts series is still in production,

parts are available and repair costs are predictable.

Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

For the Kumbra 34 by Kumbra Yachts series:

On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.

Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
