The name leads back to the designer Renato „Sonny“ Levi, born in Karachi in 1926. Over several decades he shaped the way fast motorboats are drawn; among his innovations are deep V planing hulls, the variable Delta hulls, surface drives and propeller tunnels. Well known designs of his include A’ Speranziella and the G50 built for Gianni Agnelli. Levi drew the Corsair late in 1963 as a fast cruiser of about nine metres. She earned her name by running fast and dry through the short wind against tide seas of the Solent and the English Channel while still working as a family boat. A long, narrow hull with a deep V is what sets her apart.
