Marhen Yachting; cover, cost and conditions

Marhen Yachting is a yard in Harderwijk in the Netherlands, on the edge of the Veluwemeer. It builds steel motor yachts in the Dutch inland tradition: hard chine hulls, an enclosed wheelhouse or aft deck, and interiors meant for long stays aboard. Nearly the whole range carries the Marhen Kruiser name. Two naming systems run side by side. The 10.85 and 11.60 give the length in metres, while the 39, 46 and 50 come close to the length in feet. The luxe motor 14.92 borrows its type from the old Dutch cargo vessel.

These are berth boats rather than trailer boats. A steel hull of this size spends the season in a marina and the winter on the hard or in a shed, where it can dry out properly. Steel wants an eye on paint and anodes; a scratch left open over a winter turns into rust by spring. On Dutch canals and lakes the low air draught of an aft deck layout helps under bridges, and the heating and galley make shoulder season cruising comfortable.
