Worth knowing
Martin-Werft; cover, cost and conditions
Five model ranges are recorded for Martin-Werft, motor yachts such as the Martinyacht, the Kompaktkreuzer and the Albacore II alongside the sailing yachts Seekreuzer 8,2 and Nationaler Kreuzer 45er. Where such a boat is used, on inland waters or on the coast, goes into the premium as the cruising range.
The build periods run from 1964 to 1997, the Martinyacht alone over a good two decades. Boats from those years come into the portfolio second-hand, and we insure regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, with no surcharge for the number of previous owners.
For sailing yachts the sail area counts, for motor yachts the engine output. In both cases the agreed value secures the value, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without an age limit. A boat trailer is included free of charge, and cover also applies in winter storage, during craning and during launching.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Do I have to insure inland waters and the coast separately?
The cruising range is laid down in the contract and affects the premium. For trips abroad you receive the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages.
How does the build period up to 1997 affect things?
It changes nothing about access to cover. We insure regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and full hull cover runs on an agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

Albacore II is a motor yacht from Martin-Werft, built from 1965 to 1976.
Seekreuzer 8,2 is a sailing yacht from Martin-Werft, built from 1965 to 1972.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
