In our records Matthies stands for classic motor yachts from the late 1960s and early 1970s. The models carry names rather than numbers: Azur, Caravelle, Condor de Luxe, Corvette and Delphin de Luxe, the de Luxe suffix pointing to a higher level of finish. The much smaller Mobi-Ship followed later. Owning a Matthies today means looking after a classic that has been cared for and updated over decades, and fellow owners are more likely found among classic motorboat enthusiasts than in any brochure.

These classics feel at home on rivers, lakes and sheltered coastal water, and a winter berth under a roof does a lot to keep their woodwork and paint in good shape.
