Meridian Yachts; cover, cost and conditions

Meridian Yachts are North American motor yachts laid out as family boats for long weekends and holidays aboard. The range falls into three styles that appear right in the model names: Sedan, Motoryacht and Pilothouse. A Sedan keeps the saloon level with the cockpit and adds an open flybridge above, a Motoryacht has a raised aft deck over an aft cabin, and the Pilothouse models get an enclosed wheelhouse. A three digit type number in front of the style, such as 341 Sedan or 580 Pilothouse, identifies each boat.

Our records list ten Meridian models, all motor yachts. Five are Sedans (341, 391, 411, 441 and 541), three are Motoryachts (368, 408 and 459 Cockpit Motoryacht) and two are Pilothouses (490 SE and 580). Lengths run from 10.9 metres for the 341 Sedan to 18.1 metres for the 580 Pilothouse. The 411 Sedan is the earliest entry with build year 2000; the other lines start between 2002 and 2007. The 441 Sedan lasts longest, to 2022, while the rest end between 2012 and 2019.

Meridians are berth boats, used on inland waterways and along the coast with the whole family aboard. Twin engines, generators and plenty of systems mean service work every season, and a careful look at engine hours and maintenance records is worth more than the model year when buying one second hand. Wide sedans and tall motor yachts take practice in tight marinas.
