Worth knowing
mo-jet; cover, cost and conditions
mo-jet comes from Jetworx GmbH in Germany and works as a kit: one electric drive module with about 100 kilograms of static thrust that slots into different hulls. As a surf jetboard it reaches roughly 55 km/h according to the maker, and the same module also drives a bodyboard, an inflatable version and the Tender 238, a small boat of 2.38 by 1.38 metres that does about 50 km/h with one person aboard.
For insurance purposes a kit changes the question. Most of the value sits in the drive module, not in any single hull, and a policy that lists only the board you ride most may leave the rest out. When you compare offers, check whether each module and hull can be named with its own value, and how the policy treats the battery: fire, thermal runaway and the charging conditions it sets.
The tender and the fast surf module also raise the licence question. What counts is engine power, and the rules depend on the country: Germany sets its licence threshold at 15 hp, while in the UK there is no general licence for small powered craft but many harbours and lakes have their own rules. The power of the jetbox is in the data sheet from the maker.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Should each module be listed separately?
Yes, for Mo-Jet too: it is worth checking that the policy names the drive module and every hull
with its own value, otherwise only part of the kit may be replaced.
Do I need a licence for mo-jet?
For Mo-Jet: That depends on the jetbox power and the country.
Germany requires a licence from 15 hp; in the UK local harbour and lake rules apply.

Offshore wind is the main risk; from Beaufort 4 a battery failure means drifting out.
General guidance, not a complete account;
what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and the manual of your Mo-Jet.
