Rupert Marine AB; cover, cost and conditions
Rupert Marine is a Swedish RIB builder founded in 1996 by Thomas Rønnberg, with its yard near Stockholm. It builds leisure boats as well as workboats for law enforcement, rescue services and commercial users, and many boats are fitted out to the buyer's wishes. After a bankruptcy in 2014 the brand is back in business. A Rupert is a RIB: a rigid hull topped by a tube that doubles as fender and reserve buoyancy, and most models are steered from a centre console. The leisure line is called R, from R5 to R8; other types carry their length in feet plus a code, CC for centre console and OB for outboard.
Our model records list 21 Rupert designs, all RIBs. Seven carry OB and seven D; three use water jet drive (26 D Water Jet, 34 Water Jet and the 50 Wheel House with jet), and the 50 Wheel House also comes with a stern drive. Eleven carry CC. The R line runs from R5 to R8, 5.2 to 8 metres. The 26 OB CC is recorded from 2002, the R8 from 2016 and the other 19 from 2018, with all 21 reaching the latest build years. Lengths go from 5.2 metres (R5) to 15 metres (50 Wheel House), and eight models exceed 10 metres.
The R boats and the smaller CC models are trailer boats for the archipelago, fast enough for a day trip to the outer skerries. The big wheelhouse boats are working craft that live afloat and run all year in some fleets. Tubes need UV protection and a seam check each spring, and water jets want their intake grid cleared of weed and stones after shallow runs.
