Under steel displacement boats we group together the large body of Dutch and German steel yachts that were created by smaller yards and as one-off builds, kotters, vlets, canal cruisers, often without a consistent model range designation. They are omnipresent on inland waters and are sailed over generations. For the insurance it is not the yard that decides, but the type, value, year of construction, power and cruising range.
With one-off steel yachts, determining the value is the real work. There is no price list; the value comes from the condition of the hull, the quality of the fit-out, the engine and the equipment. A valuation report is the basis of an agreed value, and with these yachts the agreed value is the difference between genuine protection and current-market-value logic. Anyone who has done the fit-out themselves should keep receipts and photographs, they are the proof.

Registration
