Techno Marine is based in Malbork on the river Nogat in northern Poland, and much of its work is professional: patrol craft, pilot boats, work and passenger boats, catamarans, even tugs and dredgers, built in composite, steel or aluminium depending on the job. Kevlar appears among its materials, and the Polish Register of Shipping has certified the yard to build and repair hulls in glass reinforced plastic and in metal. The leisure range grows out of that background and comes in two families: open RIBs under the Aga name and the Alexis motor yachts, of which the Alexis 12 is described as a displacement cruiser.

Our model records hold eight designs, four RIBs and four motor yachts. The Aga 540, 640 and 750 measure 5.4, 6.7 and 7.8 metres and are all listed from 2015. The largest RIB is the TM 1226 IB at 11.95 metres, built from 2005 to 2019 and the oldest entry in the list. The Alexis 9, 11, 12 and 15 run from 9.56 to 14.95 metres; the Alexis 12 appears from 2014, the others from 2015. Seven of the eight lines reach into the most recent build years, and only the TM 1226 IB has ended.

Owning a RIB is mostly about the tubes and the engine. Fabric tubes dislike long hours of strong sun and sharp quay edges, so shade in summer and good fenders at the pontoon pay off. Before buying a used Aga, check seams, valves and the joint between tube and hull, and ask for the outboard's service history, because engines of this size are expensive to replace. The Alexis yachts are a different proposition: a displacement hull rewards slow, economical cruising, and the systems on board, from generator to bow thruster, want regular servicing. On any used boat from a yard that also builds work craft, a proper survey of the hull tells you more than the brochure.
