Tropida; cover, cost and conditions

Tropida is a Greek builder of rigid inflatable boats, founded by Takis Samartzis, a designer who also races powerboats. Production started in 2014. The Saita hull was drawn by Adam Younger: a twin-stepped deep vee with 23 degrees of deadrise at the transom, sharpening to 50 degrees at the bow, plus small steps forward meant to keep the nose from digging in. The yard builds with triaxial cloth, isophthalic polyester and vinylester resin, and its stringers contain no wood. The Carbon version is easy to pick out by the carbon panels on the console, the hard nose and the stern.

Our model records list one design for the brand, the Tropida Saita 780 Carbon, a RIB of 7.75 metres with build years from 2019 to 2023. The Saita 7.80 is the smallest boat in the yard's range, and the Carbon Edition is a trim level with a composite hull and carbon accents rather than a carbon hull. Outboards between 150 and 300 horsepower are fitted, and the dry weight is about 900 kilograms. On board there is synthetic teak, a bathing ladder and a helm with three driving positions.

A stepped hull rewards a little attention. The steps and the planing surfaces should be checked for chips and cracks after every season, and the tubes for chafe and slow leaks. With a large outboard, the engine log, the gearbox oil and the steering are the first things to look at on a used boat, together with the transom where the motor hangs. Boats like this are often run hard in short bursts, so the console fixings and the seat mounts deserve a look too. Even the oldest example is only a few years old.

Series by Tropida, build years and cover

Tropida Saita 780 Carbon

Tropida Saita 780 Carbon is an inflatable with engine from Tropida, built from 2019 to 2023.

What this means for the cover

For the Tropida Saita 780 Carbon by Tropida series the market value and the replacement cost often

differ widely.

An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.

For the Tropida Saita 780 Carbon by Tropida series: On an inflatable the cause decides,

not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not.

The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
