Worth knowing
Victor; cover, cost and conditions
Victor appears in our records as a maker of rigid inflatables, boats with a solid hull and an air-filled tube that gives buoyancy and doubles as a fender. We found no reliable source on where the brand is based or when it started; on the used market Victor boats mostly show up as Tempest models, for instance in Greek charter listings. So this page keeps to the data. The range has three named lines: Shark for the small boats, Comet for the mid sizes and Tempest for the big ones, with the number giving the rough length in metres.
Our records list eight Victor models, all RIBs. The Shark line has three boats from the 3.74 metre Shark 3.70 to the 4.85 metre Shark 4.80, built from 1997 to 2012. The Comet line also has three, the 5.25, 5.65 and 6.25, from 1995 to 2012; the Comet 5.65 is recorded at 5.75 metres. The Tempest line has two: the Tempest 6.70 ran from 1995 to 2017, longer than any other model, and the Tempest 9.90 from 2005 to 2012. Overall the range spans 3.74 to 9.9 metres and build years 1995 to 2017, and six of the eight models end in 2012.
Every Victor is now somewhere between ten and thirty years old, so the condition of the tube and the transom matters more than the badge. The small Sharks are easy to tow and often work as tenders. The Tempest 9.90 is a different animal, a sea-going RIB that usually lives on a mooring. Store tubes out of the sun, and check seams and valves before each season.
