Chantier Astusboats; cover, cost and conditions

Astusboats is a French yard in Brech, Morbihan, in southern Brittany. It builds small sailing trimarans drawn by Stéphan Vallet. The signature detail is the floats mounted on telescopic tubes: pulled in, the boat is narrow enough for the road, pushed out, it sits wide and steady on the water. Only the little Astus 14.1 is slim enough to travel with its floats extended. Names follow size, and the digit after the point marks a generation or variant, as with the 16.1 and 16.5 or the 20.1, 20.2 and 20.5.

The telescopic tubes and their locking pins should be rinsed with fresh water after salt water use, and the boat is happiest stored on its trailer under a roof.
