Worth knowing
Conrad; cover, cost and conditions
Conrad refers to the yacht yard in Gdańsk named after the writer Joseph Conrad Korzeniowski, in Polish the Stocznia Jachtowa im. J. Conrada Korzeniowskiego. From it came the Conrad 760, also called the Conrad 25 or Peterson 25, drawn by the American designer Doug Peterson as his design number 73. The prototype drew on Magician V, winner of the 1978 Quarter Ton Cup. The 760 sailed across Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union as a training boat and as a racer in the quarter tonner class. Look for a fractional rig, fin keel and free standing rudder. In 1999 the company Marine Projects took over the yard.
Our model records list three designs, two sailing yachts and one motor yacht. The Conrad 760 measures 7.62 metres and appears from 1977 to 1992. The Atlantic 40 is the largest at 12 metres and runs from 1971 to 1997; sales particulars describe a glassfibre yacht with a beam of 4.04 metres and a draft of 2 metres, designed by INA Gdańsk, with a teak interior and two cabins. The Conrad 900 M motor yacht measures 9.1 metres and has the longest entry, from 1984 to 2014. None of the three reaches into the most recent build years in our data. The spread runs from a small offshore racer to a two cabin cruising yacht.
A Conrad 760 is a lively little racer from the IOR years, and a good one still sails well. Check the keel bolts and the hull around the keel root for cracks, since quarter tonners were often pushed hard. The fractional rig relies on its backstay and running gear, so inspect chainplates, spreaders and the age of the standing rigging. On the Atlantic 40, look at the teak interior for water stains below hatches and windows, and at the engine and tanks. Sails on an older boat are often original, so ask when they were last replaced.

That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Conrad 900 M by Conrad series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Atlantic 40, Conrad 760 by Conrad series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
