Dulkan Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Dulkan builds inflatable boats and rigid inflatables in Latvia; the works are at Riga and have existed since January 2005. What it makes are boats with a slatted floor, boats with an inflatable floor, rigid inflatables with a fibreglass hull and boats with a solid deck, alongside the repair of inflatables of every kind. The boats are built to the international standard for inflatable boats and carry the CE mark. You recognise them by the substantial tubes for their length, the straight transom and the plain finish without a moulded console.
Our model records list 41 Dulkan models, 22 of them soft inflatables and 19 rigid inflatables. Build years start in 2011 and run into current production. Forty one series are recorded: the 220 RL; the 290 in the D, DL, R and RL versions; the 325 and 325 DZ; the 345; the 370 and 370 DZ; the 400; the 420 in the DZ and DZ Pro versions; and the Amata 300 and 400. Lengths run from 2.2 to 5.1 metres, half the models between 2.9 and 3.7 metres. The number gives the length in centimetres and the letters the floor type.
The floor is what the letters are really about, and it matters more than the size does. A slatted floor rolls up small, an inflatable floor is lighter still, and a solid deck takes point load but has to be assembled. Which one a boat has decides whether it gets used as a tender at all, because a boat that is awkward to stow tends to stay in the shed.
