Eliminator Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Eliminator Boats comes from Mira Loma, California, where Bob Leach founded it in 1969. The yard began with ski boats and V bottoms, but made its name with centre pod catamarans, above all the Daytona, which Leach developed from 1975 with designer Ron Ehde. The Eagle line with a classic V hull sits alongside. Eliminator belongs to the West Coast go fast scene and was early in delivering turnkey boats capable of about 100 miles per hour. Its boats are known by the Daytona and Eagle names and suffixes such as XP and BR.
Our records list 14 Eliminator models, 8 motorboats and 6 larger models filed as motor yachts, all with build years from 1995 to 2005. The Daytona range runs from the 5.66 metre Daytona 19, the shortest model, through the 21 and 22 to the Daytona 25 and 27 at 7.62 and 8.23 metres. Seven Eagle models follow: the 230 BR, 236 XP, 236 XP BR, 250 XP, 250 XP BR, 280 XP and the Eagle 380, at 11.56 metres the longest. The Comp Ski 207 and the Edge 234 complete the list.
Boats built for speed live hard lives. Drives, steering and engine mounts deserve close inspection on any used Eliminator, and many owners keep a detailed log of engine hours and rebuilds. The smaller Daytonas and Eagles travel easily on a trailer to lakes and rivers, which is where most of them run. Between outings a dry garage and a breathable tarp keep paint and upholstery fresh.
