Eurojacht; cover, cost and conditions

Eurojacht is the name under which our model records group motor cutters, motor yachts and a few sailing yachts. We have not found a reliable source on where the yard was based or how it developed, so this page describes only what the range shows. The naming is refreshingly literal: most motor models carry their length in metres, as in Eurokotter 12.5 m or Spitzgat-Kutter 14.2 m. The sailing yachts are called Chiquita, Cornet and Blue Sailer, and on the Chiquita the number follows the length in feet.

Our model records list 24 models under Eurojacht: 17 motor yachts, five sailing yachts and two motorboats. Build years run from 1974 to 2005, and none is still in production. Apart from the Trawler MAX 12, built from 1974 to 1983, every model dates from 1993 to 2005. Lengths range from 7.5 to 16.2 metres, with half between 10 and 14.2 metres. The Eurokotter comes in five sizes from 10 to 16 metres, the Spitzgat-Kutter in four from 10.8 to 16 metres and the Motorjacht line from 9.60 to 13 metres. The Chiquita runs from the 11.5 metre 38 to the 16.2 metre 52, and the Jacson motorboats are the shortest at 7.5 metres.

Cutters and trawler style yachts like these are built for steady, economical passages on rivers, lakes and coastal waters rather than for speed. Their value rests on the engine and its hours, the condition of hull and deck, the onboard systems and how much has been renewed. On the Chiquita, sails, rigging and keel matter just as much.

For the Blue Sailer, Chiquita 38,

Chiquita 46 by Eurojacht and 19 more series the market value and the replacement cost often differ

widely.

An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.

For the Jacson Stürmer and Trawler MAX 12 by Eurojacht series there is no list price left.

a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,

and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.

On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.

Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
