Focchi Nautica; cover, cost and conditions
Focchi Nautica comes from Ravenna on Italy's Adriatic coast and has been building RIBs since the 1970s. A former offshore racer shaped the range, and it shows: the hulls are drawn for fast, safe running and the boats carry sporty engines. Hulls are produced in Tunisia, while design and development stay in Italy. The name tells you the size, as the number is roughly the length in centimetres, and the suffix tells you the layout: Family for sunbathing space, Open for the sporty open boat, Flat for small flat-floored tenders and Rafting for soft inflatables.
Our model records list 21 Focchi designs, 18 RIBs and three inflatables, the latter being the Rafting 340, 410 and 430. Six models carry the Family suffix, four Open and three Flat, joined by the 300, 360, 510 Sailing, 550 and 620 Easy Life. Build years start in 1998 with the 360 and the 510 Family, and every line ends in 2014 in our data. Lengths run from 2.14 metres (210 Flat) to 9.9 metres (1000 Open), with eleven models between 5.1 and 7.3 metres.
Almost every Focchi is a trailer boat that moves between garage, slipway and water. With the newest examples from 2014, most are now a decade old or more, so tubes deserve a close look for UV wear and loose seams, and the outboard bracket and transom for hairline cracks. Store the boat dry and shaded through the winter, with the tubes slightly deflated, and flush the engine after every salt water outing.
