F&S Boatworks; cover, cost and conditions
F&S Boatworks (F&S 2 Huntress) builds custom sportfishing yachts in Delaware on the US East Coast. Its first boat, a 58 foot sportfisherman, was launched in 1988. Construction is cold moulded: a framework of laminated wood fully sheathed in fibreglass and resin, shaped into a convex hull with variable deadrise. Every yacht is a one-off with a running hull number, and that is how they appear in our records too, as F&S plus number plus the owner's chosen name. Hull 11 of 2008 was the first F&S with an enclosed bridge.
Our records hold 14 F&S Boatworks entries, all motor yachts, from F&S 2 Huntress to F&S 18 Dona Lucy; hulls 1, 13, 15 and 17 are missing from the data. Lengths range from 13.72 metres for F&S 10 Diamond Venture to 21.95 metres for F&S 12 Bandolera and F&S 14 YNK. These boats are built to run hard offshore to the fishing grounds, so engines, gensets and tower welds see heavy loads. A boathouse slip or a well managed yard keeps the varnish and teak work, typical of custom sportfishers, in good order.
