Helgeland Plast builds the Polarcirkel boats in Mo i Rana in northern Norway, and the brand name is simply Norwegian for Arctic Circle. The yard belongs to AKVA group, a supplier to the aquaculture industry, and works from the Mo Industripark. Helgeland Plast moulds its own hulls in PE plastic, that is polyethylene, chosen for its buoyancy and its toughness in rough water and heavy weather. Engines and electronics are bought in from suppliers. Most Polarcirkel boats earn their keep at work: on fish farms, in the offshore industry, with rescue services and in tourism. In 2022 the company brought its production, previously spread over two sites, together in the industrial park.
