Jacson; cover, cost and conditions
Jacson belongs to the era of classic motor cruisers. In our records the name takes in a small family of motor and sailing yachts built between the mid 1960s and 1980. The naming is simple: a three or four digit number gives the approximate length in centimetres, so the Jacson 800 is eight metres long and the Jacson 1100 eleven. Two sailing yachts, the Jacson 870 MS and the Jacson Clipper, round out the line. Most Jacsons afloat today have had several owners and a refit or two along the way.
Seven Jacson models appear in our data. Four are motor yachts (Jacson 800, 900, 1100 and 1600), one is a motorboat (Jacson 600) and two are sailing yachts (Jacson 870 MS and Jacson Clipper). Build years start in 1966 with the 800 and end in 1980, the last year for both the 800 and the 1100, which makes the 800 the longest running model. Sizes go from 6.04 metres (Jacson 600) to 15.9 metres (Jacson 1600), with the 800, 870 MS, 900, Clipper and 1100 spaced between eight and eleven metres.
Every Jacson is now well past forty years old, so condition depends on how it was looked after. Wooden trim, deck joints and older wiring deserve a close look before the season. The small 600 can travel on a trailer and launch from a ramp, while the larger motor yachts are berth boats suited to rivers, lakes and sheltered coast. Keeping refit invoices and an engine log aboard makes life easier for any later owner.

On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Jacson 600 by Jacson series: On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Jacson 870 MS, Jacson Clipper by Jacson series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
