Lami is a Finnish make of small sport and leisure boats. The range consists of open boats, console boats and small cabin boats of the kind that belong to a Finnish summer house on a lake. Model names are numbered and carry letters for the version: S for the plain open form, R and RX for the sportier console models, F for the angling version and GTX for the more elaborate variant. You recognise the boats by the round wide hull with its low freeboard, the straight transom and the plain finish without superstructure.

Our model records list 41 Lami models, all of them motorboats. Recorded build years run from 1981 to 2003, so production of these models is closed. Forty one series are recorded: the small 264, 265, 280 S, 315, 360 and 365; the middle 375 S, 380 S, 400, 400 R, 405 RX, 415 S, 430 RX, 435 and 435 S; and the larger 440 GTX, 485 RX, 490 S, 505 F, 505 FR and 510 RX. The number gives the length in centimetres, so a Lami 485 RX measures around 4.85 metres. Lengths run from 2.7 to 5.7 metres, half the models between 4 and 5 metres.

A Nordic summer boat leads a short intense season and a long quiet rest. It is on the water for perhaps four months and ashore for eight, which is why the crane, the trailer and the shed matter as much to it as the lake does, and why the outboard on the transom is usually worth more than the hull it pushes.
