Ribquest; cover, cost and conditions

Ribquest is a British builder of rigid inflatable boats in the traditional mould: serious sea boats of the kind used by military, official and commercial operators offshore, alongside superyacht tenders and sporty leisure RIBs. The hulls are deep V with several chines, the 10m with a 24 degree deadrise, and carry a broad collar that hardly tapers plus heavy fittings such as Samson posts and tough tread panels. Each model is named after its length in metres, from the Ribquest 4.8m to the 10.5m.

Our model records list 14 Ribquest designs, all RIBs. The oldest is the 5.8m, recorded from 2001 to 2007; the other 13 run from 2009 to 2016. Lengths go from 4.8 to 10.5 metres in small steps: three models up to 5.8 metres, five between 6 and 7 metres, three from 7.3 to 8 metres and three large boats at 9, 10 and 10.5 metres. Newer designs such as the Explorer are not part of this data.

The smaller boats tow easily and launch from a slipway; the 9 metre and larger models usually stay in a marina. A RIB of this type earns its keep in short, steep seas. Tubes want a wash and UV protection, and the console, seats and engine mounts are worth checking after a hard season.
