Worth knowing
Siegel; cover, cost and conditions
Sixty model ranges are on record under Siegel, mostly Eurocrown models such as the 165 BR, the 180 BR, the 212 CCR, the 246 CCR, the 268 CR and the 420 CR. The years of construction lie between 2000 and 2014, so production has ended. For vintages like these the agreed value is the anchor point of the policy.
We agree the value in advance and in the event of a claim pay with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Whether a motor boat or a motor yacht from this programme, cover is provided regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, even after several changes of owner.
Full hull cover includes collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard; limited hull cover includes fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage. The premium follows the value, the year of construction, the engine power and the cruising range.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What does indemnity with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) mean?
For Siegel: In the event of a claim we deduct no age-related discount from the repair or
replacement costs.
The basis is the agreed value fixed in advance, in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
What do I do with a boat that has no clear manufacturer data?
For Siegel: What counts for the policy is the type of boat, the value, the year of construction,

regardless of what records exist about the manufacturer.

For the Eurocrown 420 CR, Eurocrown 212 CCR,
Eurocrown 246 CCR by Siegel and 56 more series the market value and the replacement cost often
differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Flunder by Siegel series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Eurocrown 420 CR, Eurocrown 268 CR, Eurocrown 348 CR by Siegel series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Eurocrown 212 CCR, Eurocrown 246 CCR, Eurocrown 165 BR by Siegel and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Bayside MAS 350 (Alu), Bayside MAS 350 (Holz),
Bayside MAS 380 (Alu) by Siegel and further series: Even without an engine the rule holds:
a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.
For the Bayside RIB 460 Profiline, Bayside RIB 500 Profiline by Siegel series:
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered,
porous fabric after years in the sun is not.
The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
For the Flunder by Siegel series: On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides.
A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
