Worth knowing
Shakespeare; cover, cost and conditions
The programme comprises 36 model ranges of various kinds: motor boats such as the 540 SR, the 610 Swift, Magnum and Clubman, the 960 motor yacht and an inflatable boat with engine of 7.2 metres. The production periods run from 1974 to 2010. All of these types of boat can be insured with NAMMERT.
On powered boats and inflatable boats the outboard is a part that is easily lost. Full hull cover includes theft of parts including the outboard, and also vandalism, collision and grounding. Theft of the entire boat falls under limited hull cover.
Because production lies in the past, what is at issue today are used boats. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and the agreed value fixes the value in advance. The switching service cancels an existing previous policy free of charge.

For the 7.2m by Shakespeare series the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Shakespeare 540 SR, Shakespeare 960,
Shakespeare 650 by Shakespeare and 29 more series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the 7.2m by Shakespeare series: On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage:
a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not.
The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
For the Shakespeare 540 SR, Shakespeare 650,
Shakespeare Summersport by Shakespeare and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Shakespeare 960 by Shakespeare series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
