Worth knowing

Standfast; cover, cost and conditions

With racing yachts the sail area carries more weight than any engine figure. In the Netherlands, Standfast stands for racing yachts in GRP and aluminium that come from the Frers and Van de Stadt school; two ranges between 10 and 20 metres are recorded. What counts for the premium is the sail area.

The 36 and 40 range was built between 1970 and 1995, the 43 and 64 range between 1980 and 2005. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards; races with scoring status are declared when you take out the policy so that the cover is clearly regulated.

Since production ended, it is used yachts that matter today. Year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners do not stand in the way of acceptance, and in the Premium tariff the full hull cover applies with no age limit, with an agreed value and compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

Series by Standfast, with value and cover

Standfast 36 / 40

Standfast 36 / 40 is a sailing yacht from Standfast (the Netherlands), built from 1970 to 1995,

and today changes hands at between €35,000 and €95,000.

Standfast 43 / 64

Also a sailing yacht, built from 1980 to 2005, €75,000 to €290,000.

What this means for the cover

For the Standfast 36 / 40 by Standfast series there is no list price left.

That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,

and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.

For the Standfast 43 / 64 by Standfast series the market value and the replacement cost often

differ widely.

An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.

For the Standfast 36 / 40, Standfast 43 / 64 by Standfast series:

On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:

a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,

and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
