Tecnomarine S.p.a.; cover, cost and conditions

Tecnomarine was a motor yacht yard in Viareggio on the Tuscan coast, founded in the early 1970s by Moreno Maestrelli and the Picchiotti boatbuilding family. The yard built fast aluminium motor yachts, from open sports boats such as the Cobra to the large yachts of the T series. Production ended around the turn of the millennium, and the name was later revived near Pisa with new aluminium yachts. The early models carry big cat names with the letter C, such as Tiger C 42, Jaguar C 57 and Panther C 66, while the later ones use a T and a number roughly giving the length in feet.

Our model records list 29 Tecnomarine models, all motor yachts. Recorded build years run from 1971 to 2005, and none continues into current production. Lengths range from 12.8 to 38 metres, with half between 16.5 and 27 metres. The C series covers the Tiger C 42 at 12.8 metres, the Esquire C 50, the Jaguar C 53 to C 60 and the Panther C 66 at 20.3 metres, and the Cobra 62 and Cobra HT measure 19 metres. The T series runs from the T 45 at 13.5 metres through the T 75, T 88 and T 100 to the T 118 at 36 metres and the T 125 M/Y at 38 metres.

A Tecnomarine on the market today is a yacht with at least two decades behind it. Aluminium hulls need close attention to corrosion and paintwork, and the state of the high output diesels, generators and systems usually decides more of the value than the original specification.
