Topaz belongs to the world of American sportfishing. The company was set up in North Carolina in 1975 and built sportfishing boats from the start. The name later changed hands: in 2005 Egg Harbor acquired Topaz and brought the brand back into production, and the 40 Express was introduced in the same year, drawn for offshore fishing tournaments. The boats follow the classic express fisherman layout: a big open cockpit aft for fighting fish, a sheltered helm ahead of it and a cabin below for the night before an early start.
Our model records list four Topaz designs, one motorboat and three motor yachts. The motorboat is the Topaz 24 CC at 7.32 metres; on fishing boats the letters CC usually stand for centre console. The three yachts all carry the Express name: the Topaz 32 Express at 9.6 metres from 2000, the Topaz 33 Express at 9.96 metres from 2005 and the Topaz 40 Express at 12.65 metres, listed from 2003.
