Toy Marine is an Italian yard in the port of Savona on the Ligurian coast, west of Genoa. Its lines come from the studio Nauta Yachts Design, which has worked with the yard since 2003. The look is easy to place: the Toy 51 Fly, for instance, draws on the American lobster boats and fast commuters of the 1930s and blends them with Italian boatbuilding of the 1960s. Expect classic lines that deliberately recall older role models. The number in the name roughly gives the length in feet, and Fly marks the flybridge version.
Our model records hold ten Toy designs, all motor yachts. The Toy 36 comes first in 2001, the 48 and 64 follow in 2003, the 51 and 68 in 2004, the 110 in 2006 and the Tender 47 in 2011. Fly versions of the 36 and 51 join in 2013 and the Toy 72 in 2019. Seven lines reach the latest build years, while the 68 ends in 2023 and the 48 and 64 in 2009. Classic looks deserve classic care: brightwork, upholstery and deck gear do best under a tarpaulin in the off season. A Toy 36 is a coastal boat for a marina berth and day trips; the bigger yachts from twenty metres upwards are run with a skipper or crew and often spend the summer in Mediterranean harbours.
