Trusty Motor Boats is a British name for compact cabin motorboats. The range began with the T23, conceived as a go-anywhere boat, and in 2014 the larger T28 followed. It was shown at the London Boat Show and drew attention for its little ship styling. That same year Windboats in Norfolk, the builders of the Hardy range, took over moulding and construction of both models. Production stopped in August 2014 with two boats only half built. At the liquidation meeting in September, Windboats bought the brand and the moulds for the T23 and T28 so that the unfinished boats could be completed and the range could continue.
Our model records list three designs, all classed as motor yachts. The oldest line is the Trusty T21 at 6.24 metres, with build years from 1999 to 2005. The Trusty 23 measures 6.92 metres and is listed from 2007 to 2020, the Trusty 28 at 9.07 metres from 2014 to 2020. None of them reaches into the most recent build years; the last entry is 2020. Two of the three stay under seven metres, while the Trusty 28 is the only design above eight. The 28 enters our records in the very year it was presented at the London Boat Show, and the Trusty 23 has the longest run of the three.

Check the underside for scrapes from lock walls and moorings, the condition of the rubbing strake and fenders, and the cooling system and anodes of the engine. On a boat that changed hands around the 2014 liquidation, it helps to know who finished it and whether the build documents are complete. Windows, seals and the wheelhouse door take the weather all year and should be watertight. A sea trial with the engine warm shows whether it reaches its rated revs and runs cleanly.
