Tyvano belongs to the Dutch tradition of steel motor cruisers. Brokers selling the Breva models name Stella Nova in Heeg, a sailing village in Friesland, as the builder. The Breva 12.20 is credited to the designer Huitema, the Breva 10.20 to Jan Visser Yacht Design. Hull, superstructure and deck are steel, the hull has a hard chine, and draught stays around one metre, which suits canals, lakes and rivers. The letters OK are Dutch shorthand for open kuip, an open aft cockpit, as opposed to a closed aft cabin.
