Vitech Marine is a yard from Taiwan that built mainly large motor yachts. Its flagship is a Vitech 90 of almost 28 metres, with a fibreglass hull and superstructure and a teak deck, drawn by Dixon Yacht Design and delivered in 1993. In our records the motor yachts appear as Astor and the sailing yachts as Astoria. The Astor models are typical Taiwanese motor yachts of their time, with high freeboard, roomy saloons and often an aft cabin, which is what the AC suffix points to. The number gives roughly the length in feet.

Our model records list 18 Vitech designs: 16 Astor motor yachts and two sailing yachts, the Astoria 48 S and Astoria 50 MS. The Astor 52 AC goes back furthest, to 1986, and all lines end by 2005. Seven Astor models carry the AC suffix, two are sedans, the Astor 62 is an AC Sedan, and four carry the MY suffix, the 70, 74, 80 and 90. Lengths run from 10 metres (Astor 33) to 27.07 metres (Astor 90 MY), with four yachts longer than 20 metres.

Every Astor is now a classic of at least 20 years. Teak decks, window seals and fuel tanks are the usual points to inspect, and the big MY models need a yard and crane able to handle more than 20 metres. Most are run as comfortable marina and coastal yachts with long stays aboard, and the two Astoria sailing yachts offer the same generous interior under sail.
